6300 Bluewater Building, Hilton Head Island SC Fine Tuned Structures is the Structural Engineer of Record for this third building in Bluewater Resort and Marina and the second building we are hired to design in this development. The project is approximately 60,000 sq. ft. 5 story tall building. The Architect for the project is General Design, Inc. of Branson, Missouri. The contractor is Fraser Construction from Bluffton in South Carolina. The main structural system is reinforced concrete frame with two-way reinforced concrete post-tensioned slabs. Lateral support is provided by specially reinforced concrete shear walls. Shear wall locations outside of building cores were carefully chosen to reduce torsion and minimize uplift demand on the foundations while minimizing the impact on the architecture. The building is supported on auger cast displacement piles. With very aggressive schedule the project was completed in July 2014. It took slightly over one year from start of foundations to completion.
