White Oak North Grove, Spartanburg SC. Fine Tuned Structures is the Structural Engineer of Record and provides full construction assistance for this long and short term healthcare project. McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture (MPSA) is the Architect of Record. The design consulting team was led by Mr. Stuart Barber, AIA head of the long term care studio in Charleston office of MPSA. The total area of the project is approximately 80,000 sq. ft. The building footprint has a unique shape combining three X-shaped buildings and a central core into one layout. The structure consists of one story light gauge load bearing wall supporting light gauge metal roof trusses. Structural steel framing is used in some large open areas and exterior porches. Core area and kitchen are framed with load bearing masonry walls supporting steel joists and metal roof deck. The building is classified as category risk III and therefore designed for higher wind and seismic loads. The entire structure is supported on shallow strip and spread footings. The design was completed in July 2015. The project is currently in construction with completion expected in the spring of 2017.
