Jewel of the Creek, Dubai U.A.E. is a large development with estimated cost of 1.1 billion USD. The 21 tower complex is mixed-use with a marina, waterfront restaurants, five-star hotels, residential, commercial, office, and convention spaces. The towers range from eighteen to twenty stories above grade with five stories of below grade parking and mechanical spaces. Pavel Pavlov and Anton Gueorguiev joined forces with Woods Engineering as lead consulting engineers, part of a US team, to assist the designer Kling Consult. The US team, represented by five structural engineers collaborated with more than twenty structural engineers and ten architects from Kling Consult. Our team was assigned to the preliminary design for most of the reinforced two-way concrete flat slabs and foundation mats on the project. We also provided technical expertise for establishing and design of the lateral load resisting systems according to the governing US Design Codes, which are now the Standard in U.A.E. ETABS and SAFE were used to aid in these complex analyses. Design of all structures was done in strict compliance with ASCE 7 and ACI 318 codes. The project is currently under construction and nearing completion.
