North Carolina Real Estate Property, Brunswick County NC. A winner of the 2017 ICF Builder Magazine award for Best Residential Project in the World. North Carolina Real Estate Property is an approximately 30,000 square feet private luxury residence located in Shallotte, North Carolina. The architect for the project is Johnson Garrett Architects. The building has splendid interior, designed by Geri Cruickshank of Free Space Design. The main structure utilizes a reinforced concrete frame which is a combination of columns, beams, Isolated Concrete Form (ICF) floors, and load bearing walls. The main entrance features a 24-foot tall open volume atrium. The property has three floors, a basement with three parking garage spaces, additional garage space for a boat, and a wine cellar. The entire structure is approximately 65 feet tall. Due to the poor site conditions and the weight of the structure, a system of Auger-cast piles supporting strip and spread footings was utilized under the vertical structural elements. The project also features an exuberant landscape which includes numerous retaining walls, outside kitchen, pool with wet bar and large grotto within the pool edge. Pavel Pavlov, PE SE is the Engineer of Record for the house. He was with Woods Engineering at the time of the design. Fine Tuned Structures is the Engineer of Record for the entire landscape ensemble and provided the construction assistance for both the house and the landscape projects. The project was constructed by Carrell Group of Little River, South Carolina under the direct supervision of the project’s perfectionist superintendent Ron English. The entire project was completed in 2016.
