Fine Tuned Structures is the Structural Engineer of Record for e new assisted living and memory care facility located in Thomasville, Georgia. The Architect of Record is the renowned architectural firm of McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture. The project is a two-story building with approximate area of 40,000 square feet divided into assisted living and memory care units with private and semi-private rooms, administrative, communal, and treatment areas. The design team under the leadership of Stuart Barber, AIA selected an all wood framed option with premier finishes to fit the client’s budget and vision for this facility as well as for speed of construction. Large open areas are supported with structural steel framing. The ceiling space within the roof is designed with a large mechanical platform throughout the length of the building to fit the needed equipment and utilities and to allow for easy maintenance. The project team utilized BIM modeling with Autodesk Revit to facilitate coordination between all design disciplines. The main contractor was RW Allen Construction. The construction took approximately 18 months. The project was completed in the late spring of 2020.
